Highways General Operative

M Group is hiring a highways general operative for its highways maintenance team in Okehampton, Devon. The work is manual and outdoors in all weathers: repairing potholes, patching, drainage, footways and general highway maintenance, recording safety and maintenance data on tablets, and driving and operating plant once trained. Operatives are also trained for winter and emergency out-of-hours work on a standby rota, and look after the vehicles, plant and materials in their charge.

• UK driving licence
• Willing to work unsociable hours, nights and emergency call-outs
• Good numeracy and literacy
• Preferred: highway experience, small plant certification, traffic management and NRSWA
• Preferred: LGV or HGV licence and gully pump experience
