Highways Maintenance Operative (Stump Grinder)

Kier is hiring a highways maintenance operative for its arboriculture team at Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham (B7 5HR), looking after trees on the city's highways and green spaces. The work covers stump removal and grinding to HSG47 guidance, root pruning, creating tree pits and re-staking, setting up safe work areas on the highway, emergency works when needed, and keeping LOLER check sheets and HAVS records. Operatives may also support other teams across the contract.

• City & Guilds NPTC or Lantra chainsaw and stump grinding qualifications
• NRSWA or equivalent operative qualification
• CAT and Genny qualified, with practical experience
• NPORS or equivalent lorry loader with clamshell and timber grab attachments
• Full driving licence
